Report a Correction
Corrections are especially helpful where they identify the page concerned, the wording that may be wrong or incomplete, and a source that allows the point to be checked. Useful supporting material includes official records, archive references, dated newspaper reports, planning documents, maps and links to reliable published research.

Historical Photographs, Films and Artefacts
Galashiels Heritage Watch is not an archive and is not able to receive, catalogue or preserve collections of photographs, films, slides, artefacts or recorded memories. The appropriate local organisation is the Old Gala Club – Galashiels Local History Society. Its extensive collection includes more than 15,000 photographs as well as maps, town plans, documents, books and museum objects. The Club explicitly welcomes donations and can also arrange to copy suitable local photographic material that owners wish to retain.
Please contact the Old Gala Club through its website before delivering original material.
Online Discussion and Shared Memories
Bygone Galashiels is an active Facebook group for sharing and discussing photographs and memories of Galashiels in the past. It is a separate community group, not part of this website or the Old Gala Club. Contributors should follow its rules and should not assume that an image posted on Facebook is free to reproduce elsewhere.
